Remo Pedreschi

University of Edinburgh

Much of Prof. Pedreschi’s research and professional activities have been concerned with questions related to understanding how we make things, buildings, structures, facades, objects and how the technology that we have or that may evolve influence the way that we think about and use materials. Therefore, he has consistently taken up positions and developed projects where issues of materials and the design of systems have been explicit or embedded. From developing new forms of brick construction, to pre-cast concrete, metal systems, building facades, curtain walling and other manufactured components and systems to, eventually becoming more involved in off-site manufacture and in the development of systems for re-cladding buildings. For the last few years, the use of flexible textile formworks as well as light weight building systems using steel and plywood has been a major interest for Prof. Pedreschi, as he continues to develop many new techniques and systems both with students and industry.
